The Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is designed for users who want exceptional battery life, a large high-resolution AMOLED display, reliable 5G performance and a durable premium smartphone experience. It combines a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W HyperCharge, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 mobile platform, a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and a 50MP OIS camera system.

6.83-Inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED Display

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display with a 2772 × 1280 resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

The display delivers up to 3500 nits peak brightness, 12-bit colour depth, an 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio and DCI-P3 wide colour gamut. This makes the screen suitable for streaming movies, viewing photos, browsing social media and gaming, with vivid colours and detailed images.

For responsive gaming and touch interaction, the display supports a 240Hz touch sampling rate and up to 3200Hz instantaneous touch sampling when Game Turbo mode is enabled.

The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and features HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 3840Hz PWM dimming, DC dimming and Wet Touch Technology 2.0.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 5G Performance

Powering the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, manufactured using a 4nm process.

Its octa-core CPU reaches speeds of up to 2.6GHz, providing the processing capability required for everyday multitasking, social media, streaming, gaming and demanding applications.

The phone comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, with Xiaomi Nigeria listing 8GB+256GB and 8GB+512GB configurations. Xiaomi also supports memory extension, with up to 24GB equivalent RAM available on the 12GB RAM version through its memory-extension technology.

50MP OIS Main Camera

Capture detailed photographs with the 50MP main camera, equipped with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a large ƒ/1.5 aperture and a 6-element lens.

The main camera is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera, giving you additional flexibility when capturing landscapes, architecture, group photographs and wider scenes.

The camera system supports features including HDR, Portrait mode, Ultra HD, Panorama, Documents, Pro mode and Live Moment. Xiaomi also provides AI-powered imaging tools including AI Erase Pro, AI Glare Removal, AI Beautify and AI image enhancement features.

For selfies, video calls and social media content, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a 32MP front camera with an ƒ/2.2 aperture and 4-element lens.

10,000mAh Battery with 100W HyperCharge

One of the biggest highlights of the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is its 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.

Xiaomi describes this as its largest-ever 10,000mAh smartphone battery, designed to provide up to three days of battery life under the company's specified testing conditions. Xiaomi also states that the phone can provide up to 40 hours of video playback, depending on usage and test conditions.

When it is time to recharge, 100W HyperCharge provides rapid wired charging. Xiaomi states that a 20-minute charge can provide all-day use under its specified test conditions, while a 10-minute charge can provide up to seven hours of video playback. Actual results vary according to usage and charging conditions.

The phone also supports up to 27W wired reverse charging, allowing the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G to function as a portable power source for compatible devices.

REDMI Titan Battery System

The 10,000mAh battery forms part of Xiaomi's REDMI Titan Battery System.

The silicon-carbon battery uses 16% silicon content, while Xiaomi states that its battery management system is designed to provide long-term durability and reliable performance.

The battery is rated for at least 80% capacity retention after 1,600 charging cycles under Xiaomi's specified laboratory conditions. Xiaomi also states that the battery system has undergone extreme-temperature and impact-resistance testing.

IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K Protection

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is engineered for enhanced resistance against dust, water and everyday environmental conditions.

It carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection ratings under specified laboratory conditions. Xiaomi states that the device has passed testing for water resistance at up to 2 metres for 72 hours under controlled freshwater conditions.

The device is also SGS-certified for drops from up to 3 metres onto granite, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 helps protect the display from everyday scratches and drops.

The water-resistance rating does not mean the phone is waterproof under all conditions. Xiaomi specifically excludes conditions such as seawater, swimming pools, hot water and use outside its laboratory testing parameters.

Underwater Mode for Photography

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G includes an Underwater Mode that allows users to capture photographs and videos underwater in supported conditions.

After exiting underwater mode, the speaker's automatic drainage function uses vibration to help remove water from the speaker cavity. Xiaomi specifies that underwater use is limited to static freshwater up to 2 metres for a maximum of 30 minutes and does not extend the phone's certified water resistance.

Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and AI Features

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3, providing the software platform for the smartphone.

Xiaomi provides AI-powered features including AI Writing, AI Interpreter, AI Dynamic Wallpapers, AI Speech Recognition, AI Erase Pro, AI Glare Removal and AI Beautify. The device also supports Google Gemini and Circle to Search, although availability can vary depending on software version, region and supported applications.

Xiaomi Nigeria states that the device is designed to provide a six-year like-new software experience, including six years of security updates.

5G Connectivity and Dual SIM

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G supports 5G, 4G LTE, 3G and 2G networks, making it suitable for modern mobile connectivity.

Depending on regional configuration, the phone supports Dual SIM, including nano-SIM + nano-SIM, nano-SIM + eSIM or eSIM + eSIM configurations. It also supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC, subject to regional availability.
